Author Bio

Xavier is a resident of the Tamar Valley in Northern Tasmania, where he has lived for the last twenty years and has brought up a family. Xavier has spent his working life in the construction and aviation industries, spending the last twenty years as a qualified building consultant. A love of history drives his interests, with the small island of Tasmania a perfect environment for his passion.

Writing came to Xavier as a passion late in life, finding inspiration from the stories of the country where he has spent his sixty years. He intermixes the enjoyment of storytelling on the written page with time spent with other interests, especially caring for the small rural allotment and spending time with his children.

Charlotte ‘Charly’ Hendricks never had it easy…

Growing up on a remote central Australian cattle station in the late 1880s, under the control of a harsh father and domineering stepmother, Charly knew what it was to struggle.

But when a devastating wildfire rages through the property, killing her family and leaving Charly alone and injured, her life is altered forever.

When a passing camel caravan takes her to safety, Charly undertakes a journey she’d never imagined. As life in the desert proves to hold further adventures for her, she uncovers past love and dark traumas surface, which she must face once and for all.

“Deeply moving and a wonderful read. A story that explores the strength taken to find happiness even amongst the darkest of times. 5 stars read…” Sandy, Readalot reviewer
