Melanie is a passionate children’s book author who grew up on Turramurra and Meanjin land (Sydney and Brisbane). With South African and Australian heritage, she draws inspiration from her multicultural experiences and the captivating worlds around them.

Writing stories has always been a cherished endeavour for Melanie, allowing her to delve into the realms of imagination and bring forth narratives that resonate with young readers. She often weaves majestic creatures into her tales, celebrating their beauty, wisdom and the valuable lessons they teach. Identity and friendship are recurring themes in her works, as she believes in the power of storytelling to explore one’s sense of self, foster connections and promote empathy among young readers.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR: BRIDGET ACREMAN

I’m Bridget, a children’s book illustrator and motion designer from the Central Coast in Australia.
Creating art makes me a better person. I adore making fun, bright and whimsical illustrations and artwork for kids and big kids at heart. I love it when my work can make people smile.
I studied animation and visual effects and have been a broadcast designer for the last 5 years creating exciting and engaging motion design for news and current affairs.
I also have a diploma in transpersonal art therapy and I have a strong passion for children, mental health and helping kids realise their potential through creativity.
