I forgive you for always being so cute…

I will try and forgive you for going to heaven…

But with the love of her mum to carry her through, she learns to keep remembering her special and most loved friend and to know that her memories can be as valuable as the moments they shared before they parted.

“A sensitive and sweet story of a child and pet friendship that aids children in loss and grief but shows how healing can work as a strength… Wonderful reading for children…” Madeline, Indie Book reviewer

"This book explores the timeless bond between a little girl and her best friend, a dog named Maya. When Maya passes away, the child's mother provides a comforting explanation of the illness that her dog suffered from. This is such an important conversation to have with children in order to support their understanding of grief and loss. The little girl's emotions are validated throughout the story as she deeply misses Maya. It is so heartbreaking and painful to lose a pet. For so many of us, a pet is a member of our family, and their loss leaves a huge void in our hearts. ❤️‍🩹

As she tries to cope with her immense loss, the little girl finds a way to honour and remember her companion. She has a special toy puppy that wears Maya's collar. Whenever she misses Maya, she hugs her toy puppy tightly. "Mummy made sure that I knew that even if you were not here with us, you would always be in our hearts." This is such a special way for children to continue to have a relationship with a pet who has died." Nina Reads @little.rainbow.reads on Instagram
